Exceptions and Oddities, part 1

Now that we've established the primary distinguishing characteristics of the DS9/NEM division shirt, it is appropriate to note that there have been notable exceptions over the years - some by design, some due to experimentation, and perhaps the occasional construction error.

One of the most notable exceptions to the DS9/NEM division shirt standard construction was Picard's division shirt as seen in First Contact and Insurrection; whereas every other character in the various productions using this uniform had full-length zipper trim (or, at least, zipper trim that extended below the top of the pants), Picard's zipper trim was only partial length.

First Contact

Why, exactly, we have no idea - it makes sense, perhaps, to differentiate his garment from the others in the film since he's the captain and all, but if that was the rationale, why the Sisko didn't have the partial-length trim as well is a mystery.

Oddly, we came across an auction of this screen-used Worf division shirt which had partial-length trim, but it extended down much farther than Picard's - obviously not visible when wearing the jumpsuit, but it probably also extended well below his pants if he wasn't wearing the jumpsuit/jacket:

With our pattern, we have included both standard (full-length) trim as well as Picard (partial-length) trim, and we have included instructions for how to construct each version in this tutorial.
