A common feature that emerged and became popular in the various productions using the DS9/NEM division shirt was a small "neck flap" which protected the actors' necks from the uppermost length of the invisible zipper that was left free behind the hook-and-eye closures.
These were typically quite inconspicuous, so it's difficult to fully chronicle their implementation, as it was only observable when it accidentally "peeked" upward. Nevertheless, we have noted some of the more obvious examples.

DS9, 5x16 "Dr. Bashir, I Presume?" |
The first instance we observed was on Bashir, not long after the DS9/NEM uniforms were introduced, in the
Deep Space Nine fifth season episode, "Dr. Bashir, I Presume?"
|
Insurrection |
While we are admittedly unsure of how many of the TNG crew had the protective neck flaps the following production year in
Insurrection, we did spot one on Captain Picard's division shirt:
|
DS9, 7x24 "The Dogs of War" |
Also that production year, near the end of
Deep Space Nine's final season, we got a glimpse of Bashir's in the episode "The Dogs of War."
|
DS9, 7x20 "The Changing Face of Evil" |
Admiral Ross may also have had one near the end of that season:
It seems this particular feature of the division shirts proved popular amongst the actors and/or costumers, because it seemed that most, if not all, of the TNG main cast had one in
Nemesis.
